Dr. Greil studied medicine in Germany (Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatology), the United Kingdom, the US (Pediatric Cardiac MRI at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School), and Sweden. After working in Pediatric Cardiology/Cardiac MRI in Tübingen/Germany (2001-2006) he joined King’s College London/Guy’s & St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation (2006 to 2015) in the UK as an attending (Lead of the Congenital Cardiac MRI Imaging Service) and clinical academic. In 2015 Dr. Greil was appointed as full Professor at the Department of Pediatrics with secondary appointments in the Department of Radiology, Biomedical Engineering and the Advanced Imaging Research Center at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW). He was leading the Division of Cardiology and was Co-Director of the Heart Center at UTSW Medical Center/Children’s Health, Dallas, USA from 2015 to 2020. Dr. Greil is currently Professor of Pediatrics at UTSW and attending at Children’s Health. His research interests are in diagnostic and interventional cardiac MRI and CT in patients with acquired and congenital heart disease. He published more than 170 articles, reviews, bookchapters and clinical guidelines.
